Help ensure that the chicken door is closed no matter where you are. At sunset, most predators are active. Our Basic Automatic Chicken door has some great features to keep your chickens safe and to make chicken keeping easier. Door set-up takes about 5 minutes and is super simple. Once you put your location information in, you can decide if you want your door to open and close exactly with the sun, earlier or later. Since chickens go in and out of the coop based on daylight, once encouraged to do so, this door works with your chicken's natural rhythms. Our auto door relies on a sunrise/sunset times database so you do not need to continuously reprogram your opener as the days get longer and shorter throughout the year. And no, the door won't come down on your chickens there is a safety mechanism that prevents that from happening. The door can also be operated manually.

Wire around the perimeter of the run can go a long way in keeping your flock safe. This method is used in place of trenching and burying wire (which must be done before your coop arrives if you are using a trenching machine). It is well known that critters tire of burrowing pretty quickly. A 24" wire grid laid on top of the ground around the edge of your coop is a good deterrent for animals who burrow to try to access your chickens. Grass will grow up through the wire and it can be mowed once it does. We highly recommend that you use this or another method to protect your chickens while they are in their enclosed run.

The benefits of the floor-level cleaning door are significant enough to warrant the cost, however, for larger coops, this is truly a terrific option. Instead of trying to narrow down the litter for the entire coop to push it out through the door, the floor-level cleaning door(s) provides an opening nearly the full length of the coop to simply push debris into a trash can or onto a tarp for fast disposal.
